How to Carbonize Bagasse

Bagasse and Sugarcane Carbon

1. Pre-treatment

Drying: Reduce moisture content of bagasse to below 15% to ensure efficient and stable carbonization process.

Shredding: Crush dried bagasse into small, uniform particles to increase surface area and improve carbonization efficiency.

2. Feeding

3. Carbonization Process

Heat the reactor to 410–600°C (800–1,112°F) and maintain it for 1–4 hours under controlled conditions, allowing bagasse to fully decompose into biochar, gas, and tar. The generated combustible gas is reused as fuel, reducing energy consumption.

4. Cooling and Collection

The final biochar is cooled and collected. It can be further processed, such as grinding or sieving, depending on the intended application.
